Judi is our brother's wife which makes her our sister in law but, she is way more than that, she is truly our sister. Her funeral service was a beautiful tribute to the most wonderful women we've ever known. When we were remembering memories, so many commented on her ability to comfort even someone she had just met. She had this unbelievable smile and glow all the time. Just one hug from Judi could warm you instantly. I was remembering the first time that Judi met Bob's mom. First, as close as us "Schniers" are, we were just not huggers. Bob's family on the other hand, just automatically hugs everyone. Well, on this occasion, Judi met Bob's mom for the first time at my wedding shower and when I introduced them, Judi was the first to extend a hug to Bob's mom. My mother in law, always remembered that day and always felt a connection with Judi from that first hug. Margie and Mary commented today that Judi never talked unkindly about anyone, she never would get caught up in gossip. If I were to call her, she would always answer "well hello Anne Elizabeth" it didn't matter, before she was sick and even during her most difficult days. She was always positive and made me feel totally comfortable even if I didn't always have the right words. Today, the priest commented on how he was always in awe of Judi's strong faith in God. She never wavered, she stayed strong and knew that God had a plan and yes, she wanted to stay here with her family but she also knew with all her heart that God would take care of her either way.
The other night at the funeral home, Jim spoke so beautifully about his Judi, he turned to her casket and said, "this is only Judi's shell, God took the good stuff". He was so right. She is loved by so many and will be missed until we are reunited with her in Heaven.
