Rocky 2
Another raccoon and another $120.00! This time we called a different guy out and this one was crazy. He literally took one look and reached in behind the t.v. and grabbed this raccoon out by the paw/leg. At first we thought that maybe the first guys just dumped Rocky 1 off down the street and he made his way back but Rocky 2 was smaller. Looks like we need to come up with a fix for our raccoon issue. I'm open to any suggestions! Two weeks and 250.00 later! Bob's threatening to buy a gun and just shoot the next one. (I think he's kidding) Joe thinks we should call him Reece! I can think of a better name to call it but I'll keep that one to myself.

I would guess you broke up a happy couple and just in time. Human hair mouth balls and my pellet rifle are all deterrents. Given all the woodland creatures (skunks, opossum, ground hogs, coyotes) Rocky and his girlfriend would seem at least to be my choice if I had to make one. I have all the above in my back yard along with a few more just to keep the woods full.

What about the dog?
I had Molly and Brandy (aunt margie's dog) out there yesterday and neither one of them scared it away!
That's just nuts! Wish I had some suggestions for you! Hopefully it was just one nice couple and not a whole family!
Raccoons are very smart and can usually figure out both Brandy and Molly won’t make trouble for them. Way back many years ago your uncle Jim went hunting and came home with a Raccoon for your aunt Judy to cook. I guess he had been watching the old TV program Beverly Hill Hillbillies but to make a long story short aunt Judy worked on it for two days and couldn’t make that old Raccoon taste good. From what I remember even Frits the German Shepard turned his nose up at it. One note of caution many small creatures can carry rabies so please give them a wide berth if you run in to one.

From an old Animal Comtrol officer, moth balls or ammonia is a good at keeping them away. I've used pans of ammonia at the bottom of fireplaces to discourage mother racoons. As John said racoons are highly suspectable for rabies so be very careful.
