Billy's English Book

Today in the mail, I received Billy's English Progress note with a not so great grade. After talking to Billy and trying to figure out why he's having such a hard time, this is what I found out. If you read the e-mail that I sent to his (not so nice teacher), you'll understand too! You need to know that this is the same teacher that was not available at parent/teacher conferences because she was "stressed out". I understand the "stressed out" issue but it is her job and if she can't handle it maybe she should find another profession. If you can't tell, when it comes to my boys, I won't hesitate to tell you what I think. Billy is a great kid and works very hard. He doesn't deserve this.

Dear Mrs. Brode:

After receiving Billy's progress note today, Billy and I had a discussion regarding what some of the issues might be that he's having in your class. I hope you can clear something up for me. Billy tells me that he doesn't have his own English book. Apparently, he was absent when they were passed out and when he returned there were no more left. He said he's allowed to use one in class but not allowed to bring it home. I can't imagine that this is true. If this is true, I wish you could explain to me why my son is not allowed to have the same book that is allowed to every other student in your class. He told me that he's asked you at least ten times if he can take one of the books home to study. He's even gone so far as to write you a note on his test telling you that he didn't understand because, HE DOESN'T HAVE A BOOK.

Please e-mail me or call me on Monday so that we can discuss this further. (248 347-6699).

Sincerely,
Anne Rays

Hi Anne:

I would go right to the principal with this problem. I can not imagine any school not having a book for every student.

Hang in there you are doing a great job at your job!!!
Your nephew,
Mark
