Feeling Lucky, and really meaning it!
Many things that many of us parents take for granted are simple but sweet or funny things our kids say. Bob's mom always has told me to write down things that the boys say so that when they are older I can tell them and their kids all the funny things they said when they were younger. Anyway, I can remember some of the cute and funny things that the older boys said or did but unfortunately, I never wrote them down. Anyway, when Joe started to have intelligible conversations, (intelligible to us) I started to write them down. The very first one I wrote down was at the beginning of the summer, and we were leaving the ice cream store in Bob's Trans-Am and there were a group of girls sitting outside. Joe: "Dad beep at the girls" Anne: "Joe where did you learn that"? Joe: "Dad" Bob: "No Joe, who really taught you that" Joe: "You"! Now, to many of you that seems so simple but it was a wonderful moment! In my journal I ended it with "He's starting to get it! Praise the Lord!" Well, this morning, Joe saw that I had just bought a new case of Pepsi and it was sitting on the kitchen counter, he walked into the kitchen and trying to distract me, he said "Hey Mom look a penguin and he points out the window, me not catching on to what he was doing I go and look out the window, obviously, there was no penguin and I just kinda laughed. Joe goes outside and comes back a few minutes later and says, "Mom look a shooting star" now, I finally figured out that he was stuffing pepsi's in his pocket so that he could throw them on the driveway and watch them explode. Now, these little things are so BIG for Joe! Now, when I tell someone how lucky I feel today, I really mean it!

The "Joe throwing pop grenades" is my favorite Rays blog story yet. My brothers and sisters have been reading the blog and when we got together recently, we were all laughing, imagining Joe chucking the pop and the dog rolling in it.
